Double Anniversary, 2024
Acrylic on canvas, 6 x 3 feet
This painting captures a deeply personal and celebratory moment: the 30th and 31st anniversaries of my marriage, both celebrated on the same day. My husband and I were married by a justice of the peace 31 years ago and had a church wedding exactly one year later, making our anniversary a meaningful double occasion.
The work is inspired by a special evening in Da Nang, Vietnam, where we marked this milestone at a beautiful restaurant adorned with striking teal tiles and vibrant red lilies. The painting conveys the warmth and joy of that setting, enveloping the viewer in the rich interplay of color and memory. Standing before it, one is immersed in the atmosphere of celebration and love that defined the night.
Created in 2024, this large-scale acrylic painting reflects the vivid impressions of a cherished experience, merging personal history with the evocative power of color.
