Portraits Of Light
Portraits of Light is a series of oil portraits created in response to a student publication at an elite private school where I taught. The article revealed that students of color felt undervalued within the school community. Through these works, I sought to honor and celebrate their inherent value, strength, and beauty. Each portrait captures the light and dignity of the individuals, serving as a visual affirmation of their worth. This series is currently exhibited at the Child Mind Institute in Manhattan. It was first exhibited at the People of Color Conference in Tampa, Florida in 2015.
