2023 Artist in Residence – Borneo Art Center

In 2023, I was honored to serve as the Artist in Residence at the Borneo Art Center, where I developed a conceptual series exploring the interplay of text in art. These mixed media works incorporated ink on paper, folded paper, sewing, textiles, quilting, embroidery, and fabric to examine the boundaries between language, form, and materiality.

As part of the residency, I led public workshops on paper architecture, drawing inspiration from traditional Bornean structures such as the longhouse. These hands-on sessions invited participants to engage with cultural heritage through contemporary artistic techniques. Additionally, I delivered an artist talk detailing my creative process and the thematic investigations underpinning my residency work.

This immersive experience deepened my practice and fostered meaningful connections between traditional and modern artistic expressions.
